FAQs
Why Hire An ASA/USPAP Accredited Appraiser?
With our team of Senior Accredited Appraisers, you get an unbiased and accurate appraisal to help you make a better buying or selling decision based on our data-driven reports. Accredited Senior Appraisers are granted by the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) and is the highest level of education and training available (in this case) in the aviation industry, which makes our appraisals superior.
Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) is widely recognized as the national standard concerning the United States’ appraisal profession’s ethics and practices. VREF follows USPAP standards as their best practice for appraising aircraft to ensure the credibility of our data-driven appraisals.
What’s The Difference Between An Appraisal And A Valuation?
An appraisal typically consists of about 60 pages worth of reporting. With a VREF appraisal, it is a fully comprehensive look at an aircraft you are interested in.
A valuation is about four pages and offers a snapshot of an aircraft you’re interested in. This type of report is not an appraisal and is not a USPAP compliant report. A valuation gives you a verified value of what the aircraft was and is worth, and how much you should buy it for. You can think of it as the Carfax® for aircraft.
What Goes Into An Appraisal?
Whether you request an on-site or desktop appraisal, an appraisal is a detailed report that includes market activity, logbooks, records, and so much more. VREF’s USPAP and International Valuation Standards (IVS) compliant appraisals can help give you an intimate and accurate look at an aircraft’s value.
What Goes Into A Valuation? And What’s Included?
A valuation report features a matrix of future projected values and a graph containing retail and wholesale or Fair Market Value (FMV) and Orderly Liquidation Value (OLV) amounts. You may view a valuation report based on a specific aircraft serial number and equipment list. All reports include a forecast of 15 years.
Keep in mind that a valuation report is not the same as an appraisal report and should not be used in the place of one.
