Beechcraft Aircraft

Born out of the Great Depression, Walter Beech founded the Beech Aircraft Corporation in 1932 out of Wichita, Kansas. With the demand for aircraft during World War II, Beech Aircraft boomed into one of the top three general aviation manufacturers. This continued until Walter Beech’s untimely death in 1950.

His late wife, Olive Ann Beech, was instrumental in the company’s development on the financial and operational side. She assumed leadership as President and Chairman of the Board after Walter’s death for 18 years until her retirement in 1982.

The first iteration of the famous Bonanza – the Model 35 – took its first flight in 1945 with production starting two years later. The Bonanza is not only the most popular aircraft in the Beechcraft wheelhouse, but it has the longest production run of any aircraft in the world. Between the Model 35 and the Model 36, we saw the Model 33 Debonair or Bonanza. The Model 36 has been described as simply a longer version of the 33.

Since its introduction in 1968, Beechcraft has produced the Model 36 over 17,000 times with either a distinctive V-tail or a conventional tail. Beechcraft has experienced several financial-related hardships, and in early 2014, Beechcraft was sold to Textron for $1.4 billion. It is now part of the “Big Three” in general aviation manufacturing, including Cessna and Piper Aircraft.

Why Fly Bonanzas?

Pilots appreciate the Beechcraft Bonanza A36 for its strong performance, offering good speed and range for various trips. In addition to smooth handling and stable flight characteristics, its spacious cabin seats up to 6 total while allowing for personal and business use from shorter runways. Known for its reliability and durability, the A36 carries weight as a “pilot’s aircraft.” Many models can be upgraded with modern avionics, and its long production history highlights its enduring appeal and proven track record with more than 17,000 delivered.
