Easy to use website. The best!
Needed some info quickly due to a surprise, pre market offer. Jason at Vref came to my rescue. Enter an aircraft transaction without Vref in your corner at your own peril. Knowledge is king.
Helped confirm the valuation of my purchase as well as getting an insurance quote.
Appreciative of the time put into setting this reference up. My financial institution even used it when referencing my purchase. I would recommend. It really takes the guess work out of setting a sale price or an aircraft value when buying and selling.
Recommended by Aircraft Brokers, Quick turn-around time.
Provided a confident, comparable value for an aircraft when needed without a full-blown, on-site appraisal.
I was impressed with the website and how helpful everyone was throughout the process.
I have not reviewed valuations on aircrafts before but the report was done in such a way that it was easy for me to understand and follow. Thanks to the valuation report we were able to know the value of the aircraft in question. Very helpful staff and quality reports.
Great product!
Simple, straight forward and provides a trustworthy estimate
Gave me confidence in a reasonable sales price that I thought represented the market.

It gave a buyer a bigger picture of what the airplane is worth.
Easy to work with, quite helpful, and very professional.
Rapid response in providing a detailed, well documented valuation of an aircraft involved in a partnership sale. I would and have recommended VREF to others.
Valuable tool for the industry.
It’s nice to have someone that actually answers the phone, when questions arise. This is appreciated. Gets me pricing and other info on a market that I don’t typically work with.
Saved me over $4,000 in sales tax.
Initially, I wasn’t sure if it would give me a fair evaluation as there is frequently a somewhat wide variation between how an owner and buyer will value an aircraft. However, through the two instances I used VREF to establish a selling price, as I went through the items and provide a fair summary of the avionics, engine, and other aspects of the aircraft, I found out in one situation that my initial estimate of value was understated and, in the second instance, it confirmed my estimated value and provided me with a foundation on which I could negotiate a final selling price. Having an instant ability to calculate value helped me establish a list price that was reasonable. I originally had an Archer in a flying club when I purchased it in 1999. It remained in the club until 2005 when it wasn’t flying enough to cover expenses and I removed it from the club. I leased the plane to another flying club which didn’t work out after a year so I just kept it for myself. Two years later, I received a letter from the state tax commission demanding sales tax on the purchase of the plane when it left the flying club (basically meaning I was buying the plane from myself). Further, they demanded sales tax on their value of the plane, which was more than three times higher than what I thought it should be. I used VREF to determine the actual book value, which saved me over $4,000 in sales tax. I would very much recommend VREF to anyone who wants to get an independent analysis of the value of their aircraft as it is objective and very accurately takes into account the avionics, engine life left, and other aspects of the plane.
Very responsive and punctual.
I normally received the information requested within 24 hours – which is really helpful in a sellers market. I appreciate the objective information on the potential planes I was looking at purchasing. It gives me more confidence in submitting offers to potential sellers, and let’s me know which planes are dramatically overpriced. It’s great to have a 3rd party opinion on plane value when shopping for planes. It’s useful to send with offers that are below asking price, and to know when the asking price reflects the actual value of the plane.
It saved me from entering into a deal that would have been a financial disaster.
It is hard to value aircraft and it is easy to be taken advantage of. Vref gives the benefit of history. Provided a good basis for valuing a potential acquisition.
Comprehensive and user friendly.
I was able to calculate reasonable pricing for a plane I wanted to sell, and I was able to sell the plane very near the calculated price.
Five Stars!
Todays VREF has come a long way since my first use, providing credible aircraft values PLUS comprehensive services unique to the platform which is excellent and reinforces the values. In 2004, when working for an aircraft dealer, I sold a Citation II to a client who later (2011) asked me to sell it. I provided him a VREF valuation and he balked at the numbers thinking it was worth more. He listed the aircraft with another broker, was talked into new paint and interior, and ended up selling the aircraft at the VREF valuation price I provided him LESS $250k for paint and interior. VREF is the only valuation service I have ever used because their numbers are the most accurate for the aircrafts I’m interested in dealing with. It allows me to quickly cull out the numerous overpriced listings and focus on those serious in selling. I provide comps based on the retail/wholesale numbers plus or minus for total times and avionics, etc. and have made sales, and unfortunately lost sales because I was not competitive. My being straight forward however builds credibility and trust, and VREF is a vital tool in getting that done. Although I may have lost a sale, that prospect still reaches out to me after the sale. I recommend your business to prospective and existing aircraft owners. With the comps to select which aircraft is the “best” aircraft, and the historical values to give them an idea of an exit strategy.
Great listing of equipment that could be on a plane, things for me to look for.
It gave me a great starting place for negotiating a fair price on a plane and it gave me a understanding of how add ons to a plane depreciate with time. It gives a great place to start when offering a price to owners/sellers.
I was impressed by number of aircraft models and system options available.
I used your service to estimate the value of my aircraft for insurance coverage. Easy to use.
Thorough and competent.
I purchased a GA aircraft two years ago. I used VREF to determine price range and comparable values. The VREF data allowed me to be in an advantageous transaction dynamic. A defining moment of any business transaction is that moment when you realize you spent too much money because of a lack of applicable and accurate information. Accurate, competent, and thorough information is absolutely necessary when market facts and buy/sell advice are otherwise elusive. Deficient or inadequate market information can be very expensive.
Very good way to clean compare apples to apples.
I am a flight instructor and many of my students want to buy their own aircraft. You help immensely.
Easy to use and helpful to validate prices for planes I was evaluating.
After purchasing, I used your free service to enter my plane’s full information and received a value range. I then used this report as supporting data to request an increase in hull value for the plane.
You are the only business I know of that provides the services that you do.
I think my initial experience was in an actual paperback book format. That was years ago. I think the online service is great. It enables me to add options that my plane has and see its value very quickly. Most recently, I accessed VREF to look at the value of my plane for insurance purposes. I had not changed the hull value in some years, and the market for my aircraft had really gone up. I was able to get a new value, and I attached a screen shot to my insurance application.
Jason did a great job of keeping me from buying several planes that just were not right then found the right one.
Very good. Jason was most helpful in my search to find an aircraft and in the end found the perfict plane for me. The only problem I have right now is that the Annual to get the aircraft flyable has so far taken over Sixteen (16) Months and is still not complete. So I sit here awaiting my airplane so I can fly it. As I said Jason kept me from buying several planes I shouldn’t have. Jason’s quotes have always been on the money and are a great bargaining tool for coming to a n agreeable price for the plane.
Great resource. Seems to have kept up with recent pricing fluctuations over the past couple of years.
Most banks and financing institutions are unfamiliar with the aviation world. VREF offers an option for people to get a viable estimate to use as a primary or backup to any institutional evaluations.
It was easy to use and gave me a reference point to assess pricing on aircraft.
Aircraft pricing is a confusing process and your service was very valuable on both the selling and buying process. When buying or selling your just want to have a fair deal on both sides and this give you a starting point. You also appear to be reasonably up to date on pricing and easy to check against sources such as trade-a-plane for buying selling in current market. An invaluable reference point on selling / buying a high value asset.
Good to find someone trying to keep up with the value of small aircraft.
Helped me when I was looking for an aircraft, and helped to determine a fair purchase price.
VREF has been the go to resource for high-level aircraft valuation.
Vref has been the go to resource for high-level aircraft valuation, especially during the 8-years since I became an owner. Vref has always served as a disinterested 3rd party in establishing the value of the aircraft that I’ve bought and sold. A high level valuation is just one of the tools that helps a buyer and seller arrive at a number.
It far exceeded my expectations.
At first I thought I could only get a general valuation of my aircraft, but was surprised to see how I could drill down to include the new avionics I recently added. I saw that I could not only add new avionics, but could get more specific by specifying the date of installation. Every year I need to report the value of my aircraft to the tax assessor. Usually I look at similar aircraft, but since I did a major avionics upgrade and wanted a better estimate for both insurance and tax purposes, I went to VREF for a valuation. The cost of misjudging an aircraft’s value can get high very quickly. VREF helps quantify the aircraft’s value using critical factors rather than emotion. My last experience was just a free trial run. Even without the additional pay features it far exceeded my expectations.
Fills a much needed niche in the general aviation community.
I am involved with a flight club and use your service every year to do a valuation of our aircraft. One specific issue that I faced regarded our aircraft insurance. When another flight club contacted me for help setting up their club they told me what they were going to have to pay for an aircraft. It was so out of line with what we had ours insured for that I immediately used your program to verify the value of our plane and discovered that we were grossly under insured. Problem was fixed at our next AGM.
I have used your service since you began, so many years ago.
We are working to acquire aircraft for ourselves and the cost / value / finance is truly important to what we are doing. I cannot count how many times your desktop valuation has ended up on someone bankers desk. There is not one experience, but I can tell you from time to time when we have a little issue with the online version, a single phone call and the challenge is sorted.
An accurate assessment and timely.
Great tool when upgrading aircraft. Know the value of the aircraft you are replacing and the value of the new one. Gives more confidence when negotiating.
